Ellen V. Larsson

Glassblower from Sweden

I’m born in Sweden and started to learn glassblowing at Kosta glasscenter in 2007.

From the start I have been driven by an interest in learning the traditional craft of glassblowing and from that have evolved to work more experimental.
My main practise focuses on combining different materials, like wood, gravel and copper wires with the glass, making patterns on the surface or using it inside or on the outside off a piece.
When I’m going to work with the wires, I often start by making a net to blow the glass down into it.
The glass bubbles out and expands in interplay with the holes in the nets and it gives an organic and uncalculated end result.
Using this technique, I make lamps, sculptures and functional objects.
